There May Not Be Snow in San Antonio

Happy Holidays Y’all! I’m finally getting into the Christmas spirit and taking a nice little vacation from work. To help celebrate the holidays, I decided to take a little weekend trip to my hometown, San Antonio. Visiting was so much fun and I was able to revisit a few spots that I loved visiting during Christmastime as a kid.

One of my favorite old spots in San Antonio is Stonewerks Grill. I love the ambiance, the drink selection, and, especially, the big rock nachos! I’m not even going to lie, it’s the best thing on the menu (yes, there’s lots of options!). I used to get these as an appetizer all the time, but I love them so much, it’s now my main entree. Can you say “cheat meal”?!

We also celebrated Evan’s birthday a day early at the restaurant. Stonewerks was so nice to give us a free dessert, an ice cream sundae, and even balloons! The ice cream there is so creamy and absolutely delicious, we loved it!

I also had to stop at an oldie but a goodie, Sultans Cafe and Grill! I used to go there multiple times a week for their food and hookah. It’s been awhile since I last been, so I was a little nostalgic when visiting. I also got their Taro Bubble Tea which I’ve always loved. The only thing is I’m not sure if it is now more sugary or maybe I’ve just gotten older?😳

The next day was a bit special because I brought Poinsettias to both of my grandparents’ graves. It’s been awhile since I’ve been to them, so it was a great thing to do, especially around the holidays.

I wanted to explore some new places as well, so for breakfast, I decided to stop at a smoothie shop and a donut shop (they’re next-door to each other!). I saw the cute ambiances each had on Instagram, so I had to snap a couple photos. Check them out at The Juice Experiment and Art of Donut!

Since we were so close to it, we decided to stop at the Japanese Tea Gardens! It’s a beautiful sight with lush greenery and waterfalls. We used to go every year in high school for my art class, so it was fun to see now that I’m older.

We spent the rest of the day shopping at the mall and then celebrating with a proper birthday dinner. Deciding to stay a bit low-key, we went to The Grill at Leon Springs. I love this quaint little area north of San Antonio and I knew this restaurant had to be good since the Spurs players go to it! They must have good taste because this place was delicious for a good price!

On our last day, we took a nice drive around and ended up going to Aldacos. It’s a great tex-mex restaurant I’ve gone to a handful of times growing up. The best surprise was that they have Avocado Margaritas! I’m going to have to learn to make these at home now.

Last, but not least, I wanted to go walk around an old park I used to go to all the time. It was so nice to just reminisce and get a bit of exercise after eating out so much over the weekend! I even saw some deer who were fairly close to the trail!
