It’s hard to believe I survived the big 2-1! Twenty-one was such a special year, of course because of all the legal drinking. I accomplished so much while I was twenty-one, and I can’t even imagine what twenty-two has in store!
Although I hate that my birthday is in the winter (and it got down to the low 20’s on my birthday), I have to say I love the late winter fashion. January and February are all about the pinks, reds, and purples as we inch closer to Valentine’s Day. I love wearing these colors in either lighter or darker shades and then matching them accordingly. I used this to my advantage for my birthday and went with a pink/black/nude theme. At first, I was afraid about mixing so many “base colors”, as I call them, since I usually like to stick with black OR white OR nude, but I had to wear these new nude pumps I bought at Saks! I’d like to think I made the color combination work. If Kylie Lip Kits can have black packaging with the nude lip color showing, then I should be able to do the same!
I tried to stay pretty low key for my birthday this year and only went out to dinner with my family at Jenna’s Asian Kitchen. It was super cold out (at least for us Texans), so hot Chinese food was all I could think about. I had never been to Jenna’s before, but I heard nothing but great things! I have to say it was absolutely delicious, and I plan on getting take out from here all the time. I ordered egg drop soup as a starter, which you can never go wrong with, and the Orange Peel Beef with brown rice. I can’t stress how amazing the beef was, and the rice had a little zest to it that I can’t describe, almost like a hint of jasmine to it. All I have to say is that if you go, you will not be disappointed.
Finally, I wrapped up my day with cake and wine. My absolute favorite cake is red velvet, especially the one from Randall’s. I’m lucky if my birthday is on Friday (which this year it was!) or on the weekend because Randall’s has $5 cake Fridays where all of their basic cakes are $5. Baking a cake at home is probably more expensive than that! I paired the cake with Yellow Tail Merlot and went for a gold/white theme. I’m obsessed with that minimalistic color combo with all my home items, so I was really excited to incorporate it with my party ware.

One last photo of me and my mom on my special day!
